Looks good quality but it’s very hard to get on when wet – bordering on claustrophobic. I’ll be saving it for use in winter as it will be way too hot for warm weather. I think it will be great for cold, windy days. What it REALLY needs is a zip or velcro opening down the side seam. I’ll be cutting mine open before I use it again.

This is an update to my previous review. Today I used the surfgown for the first time. Sadly I’m now giving it just one star. I hate giving poor reviews but it’s actually quite poor. The design is fine – except for the too small head hole. The problem is the inner material – the plastic wooly stuff. It sticks to a wet body making it very hard to get on and has zero absorbency.
I like to get out of the pool or surf, throw on the poncho, dry myself with it and get going. That’s not going to happen with this. You will NEED to carry a towel as well and if you also need a towel I don’t see what purpose this gown serves – you may as well get dressed. The only way this will ever get used again is if I can convince my wife to carefully remove the lining and replace it with some towelling. I really wanted to like this gown but frankly it’s terrible. My $15 towelling Carve poncho is way better (albeit not waterproof exterior).
